Ralph loves his wife Jane, but goes missing in action in France leaving her to the huntsman Hammon who first pursued, Rose, a meer citizen who loves Lacy, a rich courtier, who loves her back but only whilst disguising himself as Dutch Shoemaker, for Simon Eyre who when not berating Margery, battling Firk or barraging Hodge, manages to go from lowly layman to Lord Mayor of London . And we haven't even mentioned the singing and dancing yet! Oh wait..now we have.
